eVerse.AI uses smart collars to improve dairy farming in India

A climate-tech startup’s technology-driven intervention among cattle farmers in Maharashtra has demonstrated how digital solutions can simultaneously improve livestock productivity, boost farmer incomes and address methane emissions.
Over a 24-month period, 400 smart collars deployed across three villages helped increase farmers’ average monthly income from Rs 4,084 to Rs 8,440, while milk production rose by 38.6 per cent, according to independently validated results cited by eVerse.AI.
The results have enabled the company to move beyond its initial pilot towards state and cooperative-level partnerships. It is now expanding its focus on carbon markets and international opportunities.
Founded by Ashish Sonkusare and Vidhi Gaur in August 2022, eVerse.AI has joined the Women in Tech Accelerator Programme by Propel at BML Munjal University and IDEABAAZ. The founders said the programme would provide mentorship, structured guidance and greater visibility as they prepare to scale their deep-tech and climate solutions.
The company plans to use the accelerator to strengthen its fundraising readiness, refine its go-to-market strategy for international expansion of its GreenCow platform and build partnerships with other women-led ventures working on systemic challenges.
India has about 380 million cattle, making it one of the world’s largest cattle populations. However, the founders point out that Indian cattle often operate at only 30-40 per cent of their potential productivity. According to the company, low productivity affects farmers’ earnings while also increasing the carbon intensity of milk production.
“Closing that gap is what eVerse.AI exists to do,” the founding team said.
The company has developed two flagship products — ConnectedCow and GreenCow. ConnectedCow is an IoT-enabled smart collar priced at about Rs 5,000, compared with more than Rs 15,000 for competing devices. It monitors cattle health and reproductive parameters and can detect heat cycles, mastitis, foot-and-mouth disease and lameness, with the company claiming an accuracy of more than 95 per cent.
GreenCow combines a handheld methane sensor with a digital measurement, reporting and verification (dMRV) platform. The system is designed to measure emission reductions and convert verified methane savings into carbon credits.
According to eVerse.AI, its solutions have been deployed through more than 30,000 devices, monitoring over 900,000 animals and reaching more than 200,000 farmers in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat. The company says it has remained bootstrapped and profitable since FY22, with revenue rising from $47,000 to a provisional $611,000.
Its next phase includes the Maharashtra Methane Mission (M3), covering 20 million animals, besides a cooperative-led methane initiative with Banas Dairy.
The startup has also filed five patents, including for a handheld non-contact methane sensor priced below $1,000 and a muzzle-based cattle identification system. The company says the latter has been adopted for the Government of India’s national cattle identity programme covering about 350 million animals.
With a proposed expansion into New Zealand involving Fonterra and the Ministry for Primary Industries, eVerse.AI is seeking to take its technology beyond India.
The founders describe their vision as building “the digital backbone for India’s next White Revolution”, with the accelerator programme expected to help take their farmer-focused climate technology to global markets.
