Faculty development program on AI inaugurated at VMSBUTU

Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (VMSBUTU), Dehradun inaugurated a three-day faculty development programme (FDP) on Artificial Intelligence for education professionals, aimed at strengthening the understanding and application of AI in teaching, learning and academic practices. Among those present at the inaugural session was the vice- chancellor Prof Tripta Thakur along with several senior teaching professionals from various institutions.
Addressing the participants, Thakur highlighted the transformative impact of AI and Generative AI on education, employment and the future of work. She emphasised that educators must understand these emerging technologies to prepare students with the knowledge, skills and adaptability required to become industry-ready professionals.
She further observed that the education system and learning patterns are undergoing significant transformation. “Artificial Intelligence has relevance across academic disciplines and that its potential should be explored not only in technology-related fields but also across diverse streams. She encouraged educators to view AI as an opportunity for innovation and to understand how teaching and learning can be adapted to effectively engage students at their level,” she added.
Referring to the multidisciplinary approach envisaged under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Thakur emphasised the increasing interconnection between different disciplines and the need for educators to develop a broader understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its applications.
