PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said the first monsoon rains have exposed the preparations of the government. She said that it appears that the government spent all its resources and energy in tackling the consequences of the Karnprayag and Nagrasu incidents. Dasauni said that the government failed to smoothly conduct the world famous Char Dham Yatra and now it has started making tall claims regarding preparations for the Ardh-Kumbh in Haridwar.
She said that one can understand the preparations made by ṭhe government from the fact that the debris brought by heavy rains in Maldevta area last year is still lying there. Similarly, the Premnagar bridge which is very important and which connects with industrial areas is still incomplete. Dasauni added that the bridges on the way to Mussoorie which got damaged last year have not been repaired yet and the traffic is still moving on the temporary bridges.
The important bridge connecting Dehradun with Haridwar in Lal Tappar area has also not been repaired. Dasauni said that in such a situation the government is left with no option but to regret any rain triggered damage to life and property. She said that due lack of preparations by the State government the people of the State have no other option but to care for themselves and remain prepared for the worst.
