Four new cases of dengue were reported in the Dehradun district on Thursday. The Dehradun Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma informed that three of the patients were admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, while one was admitted to Himalayan Hospital. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 223, comprising 113 cases from Dehradun itself and 110 cases from other districts and States.
Currently, there are 18 active dengue patients receiving treatment. Of these, 10 are being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, two at Himalayan Hospital, five at Graphic Era Hospital and one patient is being treated at home. On Thursday, departmental officials collected a total of 207 dengue samples, bringing the overall number of tested samples to 12,313.
Additionally, on Thursday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Health department volunteers conducted 10,012 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 189 homes. To date, the health department has completed a cumulative of 11,79,614 surveys, with 7,853 yielding positive results. ASHA workers and volunteers also inspected 68,408 containers, discovering that 242 contained larvae as of Thursday. Overall, they have examined 78,36,540 containers, with 10647 testing positive for larvae.
Doctors advise residents to take necessary precautions. This includes eliminating stagnant water in their surroundings, using mosquito repellent, wearing covered clothing and consulting a doctor immediately if they experience any symptoms of dengue.
