Gas cylinders seized, case filed against agency for violating orders

The Dehradun district administration took action against a gas agency on Sunday for violating official orders regarding LPG distribution. Acting on complaints, officials seized gas cylinders from Shaheed Heera gas agency located on Shimla Bypass Road and registered a case against the agency owner.
The action was taken after it was found that the agency was distributing LPG cylinders directly from its godown instead of delivering them to customers’ homes. The district administration had earlier directed all gas agencies to ensure 100 per cent home delivery to prevent black marketing and crowding at distribution points. However, the agency allegedly ignored these orders, leading to a large crowd gathering outside the premises and raising concerns about law and order.
Following instructions from district magistrate Savin Bansal, a QRT led by the Vikasnagar sub divisional magistrate reached the spot and inspected the agency. Officials confirmed that cylinders were being distributed through trucks from the godown, which violated the administration’s directions.
After the inspection, the administration registered a case at Patelnagar police station under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The seized cylinders were later handed over to the district supply officer and the oil company concerned.
