30 officials deployed to monitor LPG booking and delivery, 111 complaints received

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

Thirty officials have been deputed to the Quick Response Team (QRT) formed by Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal to stop the black marketing of LPG cylinders. The DM has directed that LPG cylinders will no longer be distributed directly from gas agencies. Instead, cylinders will be delivered to consumers through door-to-door home delivery.

Bansal has issued strict instructions to gas agencies to ensure home delivery of LPG cylinders. Officials said there is no shortage of domestic gas cylinders with there being sufficient stock.

However, many people are facing problems while booking cylinders online. Because of this, consumers are visiting gas agencies directly, leading to long queues outside the agencies. To make the booking and delivery of gas cylinders smoother, the DM has assigned the 30-member QRT team to monitor the situation in different areas. The team will regularly report to the administration about LPG bookings and door-to-door delivery in their respective areas. Bansal said that gas cylinders will be supplied on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meanwhile, the district administration received 111 complaints related to LPG gas supply through its helpline numbers and WhatsApp service by 5 PM on Saturday. The complaints were registered through the control room numbers 1077, 0135-2626066, 2726066 and WhatsApp number 7534826066. Officials said the control room is working to resolve problems related to gas supply and cylinder availability.

According to officials from the District Food and Civil Supplies department in Dehradun, about 18,120 domestic cylinders and 21 commercial cylinders were supplied to consumers in the district during the day. However, the district is still facing a backlog of nearly 75,000 domestic gas cylinders, which has caused inconvenience to many residents.
