GBPUAT to become a research-oriented university: VC

The vice-chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Shivendra Kumar Kashyap said that it would be developed as a research-oriented university.
Sharing the future vision of the university while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he stated that it would promote research that directly relates to farmers and industry. “There is immense potential in this direction, and the goal is to establish Pantnagar’s name prominently among the top 100 universities in the country,” he said.
He said that the university, based on the land-grant model, would further empower teaching, research and extension. “To this end, a robust ecosystem will be developed, prioritising innovation, inspiration,” he said.
He also said that for quick solutions of small problems of the people, he himself would listen to the problems three days a week and try to resolve those problems within the next 24 hours.
“Particular emphasis will be placed on reviving mountain agriculture and industries and strengthening the extension system,” the VC added.
“Additionally, the extension system will be further strengthened by coordinating with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and various line departments of various state governments. All these activities will be effectively implemented under a comprehensive action plan, giving a new direction to agriculture and rural development,” he declared.
