GDMC opens occupational therapy centre for children

Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital has opened an Occupational and Rehabilitation Centre dedicated to the treatment, training and rehabilitation of children with special needs.

According to the officials, this centre will feature occupational therapist Dr Shraddha, who will provide therapy tailored to each child’s abilities. All services will be systematically administered under the guidance and supervision of Dr Ashok Kumar, head of the Paediatrics department. With the integration of modern technologies and a scientific approach, this centre aims to foster children’s physical, mental and behavioral development.

Officials stated that each child will receive a personalised treatment plan designed to meet their specific needs, focusing on motor skills, learning abilities, sensory balance and independence in daily activities. Parents will also receive expert counselling to enable them to actively support their child’s development at home.

This initiative is set not only to provide essential treatment but also to serve as a center of trust for families seeking a better future for their children, they added.
