Kotdwar incident an example of BJP’s religious polarisation attempt: Dhasmana

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has accused the State BJP government of trying to incite violence for igniting religious polarisation in the State. Interacting with the media persons on Tuesday, Dhasmana said that the registering a case on Deepak Kumar and Vijay Rawat for standing in support of a Muslim shopkeeper in Kotdwar of Pauri district when some anti-social elements were pressuring him to change the name of his shop shows that such incidents are happening under the patronage of the BJP government.
Terming the statement of BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt in which he has accused the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi for trying to vitiate the environment in Uttarakhand as laughable, Dhasmana said that Deepak Kumar is getting appreciation from all quarters for the bold step taken by him. He said that Gandhi has also appreciated Deepak for standing for unity in diversity and preventing anti-social elements from engaging in violence.
Dhasmana said that recent attack on Angel Chakma, the student of Tripura in Dehradun and attack on Kashmiri youngsters in Vikasnagar and the Kotdwar incident clearly shows that the State government and ruling party has given a free hand to the anti-social elements to ignite polarisation on religious lines in the State.
