Record number of tourists visit Uttarakhand in 2025

The number of tourists and pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand is increasing steadily. The data of the Tourism Department shows that a total of 6,03,21,194 tourists and pilgrims visited the State in the year 2025 which is higher than 5,95,50,277 visitors in the year 2024.  A total of 1,92,533 foreign tourists visited the State in 2025. The State was visited by 2,00,18,115 tourists and pilgrims in the year 2021 which jumped to 5,39,81,338 tourists/ pilgrims in the year 2022. A total of 5,96,36,601 tourists came to the State in the year 2023.

The department data further shows that 3,42,49,3980 visitors came to Haridwar in 2025 which is highest in the State. Dehradun was frequented by 67,35,071 tourists while 53,29,759 tourists visited Tehri in 2025. 

The department officials inform that it is for the first time since the creation of Uttarakhand that more than six crore tourists and pilgrims visited the State in one year.

Pertinently, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to focus on increasing facilities for the tourists visiting the State. The State government has initiated many schemes for development of tourism in the State and special emphasis has been placed on the development of infrastructure at tourist and pilgrimage sites.

Expressing happiness at the record arrival of tourists in the State, CM Dhami said, “Tourism is a major pillar of Uttarakhand’s economy. Our government is promoting tourism activities throughout the year in the State, ensuring year-round employment opportunities for local residents and youth involved in the tourism business. Winter tourism is a key component of this initiative. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mukhba, the winter abode of Goddess Ganga, has boosted winter tourism in the State. We have prioritized tourist safety along with enhancing tourist facilities and result of these efforts is reflected in increasing number of tourists in the State.’’
