The State government has appointed additional secretary Anand Srivastava as the investigating officer against PCS officer Ajayveer Singh in the case of irregularities in purchase of land in Sarai village of Haridwar by Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH). Srivastava has been directed to submit the investigation report to the government within one month.
As per an order issued by the Home department, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against Ajayveer Singh under the provisions of the Uttarakhand Government Servants (discipline and appeal) rules, 2003. In the chargesheet Singh was given an opportunity to present his side of the story, in response to which he submitted his written statement on September 16, 2025, denying all allegations.
The government has also expedited the process of inquiry in the case. It has initiated a departmental inquiry against three officials, the then district magistrate, Karmendra Singh (IAS), the then-municipal commissioner, Varun Chaudhary (IAS), and the then-sub divisional magistrate, Ajayveer Singh (PCS).
Pertinently, the government had earlier nominated Sachin Kurve (IAS) as the investigating officer for the ongoing departmental inquiry against two IAS officers in the case.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government firmly adheres to a policy of zero tolerance for corruption and irregularities. “Ensuring transparency and accountability in governance is our top priority. Any irregularities found at any level, regardless of the level of officers, will result in the strictest possible action,’’ he said.
