The Minister of Information Technology, Good Governance, Science and Technology, Pradeep Batra stated that the government is actively working to provide a new direction for science and technology-based development in Uttarakhand. He said this while addressing an event titled “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth,” held at the IIT Roorkee campus on Monday in observance of National Technology Day. The event was organised jointly by UCOST, ITDA and Lakshya Society.
The programme was chaired by the director of IIT Roorkee Kamal Kishore Pant while the director general of UCOST, Durgesh Pant was present as a guest.
Batra emphasised that science, information technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation should not only serve as tools for modern development but must also create opportunities for the most marginalised individuals in society. He linked the BJP’s Antyodaya philosophy with technological development, stating that the government’s goal is “Technological Antyodaya,” ensuring that the benefits of technology reach those at the bottom of the societal ladder.
He said, “The true Antyodaya of technology is when the benefits of innovation reach the last person in society. Our aim is not just digital development, but an inclusive growth model, where AI, digital governance and innovation enhance the life of villagers, the underprivileged, farmers, students and youth.”
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India, Startup India and IndiaAI, he noted that India is swiftly becoming a global technology leader. He encouraged the youth to view AI, innovation, and technology not merely as career paths but as missions for nation-building. Batra reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making Uttarakhand an innovation hub and connecting young people with future-ready skills.
The guests at the event shared their insights on responsible innovation, digital transformation and inclusive development, inspiring the youth to contribute to building a developed India through science and technology.
