Chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said that the people of the State want to know the status of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case.
Reacting on the arrest of BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, the Congress leader said that the law should take its course and if anyone presents false or misleading facts, they should be investigated impartially. “But the bigger question is: when the State government has recommended a CBI investigation, why is another agency so active,’’ she questioned.
Dasauni alleged that through this action, the government is attempting to divert public attention from the core questions surrounding the Ankita Bhandari murder case.
She said that the Ankita Bhandari murder case is a matter of justice for the daughter of Uttarakhand. “The identity of the so-called VIP who has been repeatedly mentioned in this case has not been made public to date. The government and investigating agencies should clarify how far the investigation has reached on this aspect and why the truth has not yet been revealed,’’ she said.
Dasauni demanded that all key facts related to the Ankita Bhandari case investigation be made public and that no attempt be made to shield any influential individuals. The people of Uttarakhand need truth and answers more than arrests.
