Minister sets August deadline for jobs to National Games medallists

The wait for a government job for the medal winners of 38th National Games will soon be over. During a review meeting on Tuesday, Sports minister Rekha Arya directed officials to issue the notification for these jobs by August. The meeting took place in the FRDC auditorium at the Secretariat, where various issues related to the Sports department were discussed. Arya emphasised that there should be no further delay in awarding out-of-turn jobs and urged the department to prioritise this task.

Additionally, the Sports minister instructed the Sports University to make appointments as soon as possible to initiate its academic session. She said that the subjects for which admissions will be offered in the first session have already been selected. Further, she announced that the admission process for the Women’s Sports College in Lohaghat has begun and that the first academic session there will commence in July.

During the meeting, the Sports minister also highlighted the importance of coordinating with the Uttarakhand Olympic Association to prepare for how the trials for the 39th National Games will be conducted and to develop training programs for the athletes.

Moreover, Arya instructed officials to expedite the development of a new sports policy and the establishment of mini stadiums in every block.

Present at the meeting were special principal secretary, Sports Amit Sinha, Sports director Deepti Singh, deputy director Shakti Singh and others.
