Gutted Glenmore: Loss estimated at Rs 20 L

Senior Fire department officials and the Nainital MLA visited the remains of the British-era Glenmore mansion which had been gutted in a fire that broke out Sunday afternoon. The Fire department estimated the damage caused by the fire at around Rs 20 lakh. The cause of the massive blaze that had reduced the nearly 150 year old building to ashes has not yet been ascertained.
Notably, the chief fire officer, Gaurav Kirar had inspected the spot along with a departmental team and inquired about the loss from the affected families. The fire station officer, Devendra Singh Negi said that the loss involving the two families which lived in the building had been estimated at Rs 20 lakh. The MLA Sarita Arya also inspected the spot and met members of the affected families. She promised to provide all possible help.
