On the occasion of Harela festival, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dham reached Vriddha Jageshwar Dham in Almora on Thursday and worshiped Lord Shiva in tune with the traditional rituals amidst chanting of Vedic mantras. He also wished the people happiness, prosperity and good health.
Further, he dedicated a bell weighing approximately 1.5 quintals to the shrine aside from performing Kanya Pujan in the temple premises.
While speaking of the exalted status of the shrine, he said that it is one of the major ancient Shiva shrines of Uttarakhand. “The whole of India is aware of its religious and cultural significance. Keeping this fact in view, the state government has been continuously working to preserve its religious and cultural heritage, expand facilities for devotees and promote religious tourism across the state,” he said.
After the worship was over, the CM inspected the temple complex and reviewed the arrangements available for devotees. He instructed the officials present to ensure that devotees visiting the temple do not face any inconvenience and that security, cleanliness, and other basic amenities are provided in a systematic manner.
Among those who accompanied him during his visit to the shrine was the MLA, Jageshwar, Mohan Singh Mehra, district magistrate Anshul Singh and senior superintendent of police Chandrashekhar R Ghodke.
