The Health minister, Subodh Uniyal claimed that the State government is actively working to provide modern and specialised healthcare services to the residents at their nearest health centres while inaugurating on Thursday a high-end colour Doppler ultrasound machine installed at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Raipur, Dehradun, with the support from the Swami Vivekanand Foundation and ONGC CSR funds.
He highlighted that this state-of-the-art colour Doppler ultrasound machine will offer high-quality diagnostic facilities locally to thousands of residents, eliminating the need to travel to bigger hospitals and thereby saving both time and money. “The machine will be particularly useful for pregnancy tests and for accurate diagnoses of various internal diseases,” he said and assured that full compliance with all provisions of the PC-PNDT Act would be maintained, emphasising a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities such as fetal sex determination.
Addressing the programme, the local MLA Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’ said that CHC Raipur serves as a major healthcare centre for the surrounding population, including the border areas of Tehri, and handles over 500 outpatient visits daily. He urged the hospital to expand its capacity to 50 beds to ensure that more residents of Raipur and surrounding areas can access better healthcare services.
The people present at the event said that this initiative would enhance health services in the area. “We hope it will provide us with improved, quicker and expert testing facilities,” a local said.
