Harshil-Dharali still suffer from effects of disaster & rain

The disaster which hit the Dharali-Harshil area in the district on August 5 continues to impact routine life in the area. The local administration is undertaking relief operations in the area as personnel facilitate the supply of foodgrains, drinking water, electricity and other basic facilities in the affected areas amid consistent rainfall.
Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya reached Dabrani on Sunday to inspect the damaged stretch of the Gangotri national highway. He directed officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Public Works Department (PWD) to use all necessary resources to restore the damaged stretch of the road. Areas suffering from land subsidence should be monitored constantly to prevent inconvenience to travellers and local residents, he said. The district magistrate inspected various damaged parts of the Gangotri route and directed officials to expedite efforts to repair the road and restore normal flow of traffic.
The officials claimed that efforts are underway to repair the damaged parts of the road and restore traffic on the route. Simultaneously, rescue and relief efforts are also underway on the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
It is pertinent to mention here that the supply of foodgrains, cooking gas cylinders and medical health services have been affected in various villages near Dharali and Harshil due to the Gangotri national highway being damaged. In this situation the authorities are focusing on ensuring the supply of essential commodities and to restore routine life.
