PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Uttarkashi
While stating the Uttarkashi district administration’s goal of minimising maternal and infant mortality rates, the district magistrate, Prashant Arya said that they were going all-out to further strengthen the health system.
He directed prenatal care be made available regularly at all government-run health centres (PHC/CHC) across the district and high-level check-up camps be organised compulsorily every month by a team of specialist doctors under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan.
“It is essential to promote institutional delivery and to this end, ANMs will be provided special training and the number of skilled birth attendants will be increased so that any complications during delivery can be handled safely,” he added.
He appealed to pregnant women and their families to regularly visit nearby health centres for prenatal checkups and take advantage of all available government schemes. “The administration is committed to ensuring that the lives of every mother and every child in the district are completely safe,” he declared.
