After a calm day in most of the on Saturday, heavy rains are forecast in various areas of the State on Sunday. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning (be prepared to take action) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at a few places with very heavy rain at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain/gusty wind (40-50 kmph) are also likely to occur at a few places in Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
The centre has also issued a yellow warning (be aware) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at a few places in Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Heavy rain is also likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Almora districts on Sunday. Further, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain/gusty wind (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Almora districts today.
Apart from this, moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts while light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be intense/heavy towards evening/night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 34 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
