Dehradun police have made extensive security arrangements across the city to maintain peace and law and order during Eid-ul-Zuha festival. The senior police officers said that the city has been divided into five zones, 11 sectors and 35 sub-sectors. Additional police forces have also been deployed in sensitive and mixed-population localities.
Speaking of the matter, the SSP, Pramendra Dobal said that officers and police teams will continuously patrol their assigned areas during the festival and keep a close watch on all activities. “Meetings have also been held with senior members of different communities to ensure that the festival is celebrated in peace, harmony and brotherhood,” he added.
The police have inspected designated sacrifice sites and urged members of the Muslim community to carry out sacrifices only at approved places. People have also been advised not to offer prayers on roads. Police are also taking preventive action against individuals previously involved in cow slaughter and illegal animal slaughter cases.
Apart from the ground-level security, Dehradun police are closely monitoring social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumours or misleading information. Senior officials warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found trying to disturb communal harmony or spread false information online.
