I-Day approaching: City markets bustle with tricolour- themed items

Major markets in the city, including those in Raja Road, Paltan Bazaar and Jhanda Bazaar, are now abuzz with people thronging in large numbers to buy the Independence Day-themed items. These items include tricolour-hued t-shirts, flags, badges and bangles. Shop owners said that with a few days left until the I- Day, the demand for tricolour-themed products has surged. This trend is discernible the most among the youngsters who love to create social media reels.
The city-based markets have also been decorated appropriately for the upcoming occasion. Additionally, many public transport vehicles are being seen moving with the national flags fluttering on them.
A shop owner, Shikha Pandey said that there has been a significant surge in the demand for tricolour-themed materials in her shop. “With a couple of days still left, I have seen a rise in the demand for such items which has surpassed the same as last year. This is largely due to the trend of creating impactful social media content. While the school children are purchasing flags and badges the youngsters are choosing the tricolor t-shirts,” she said.
Another shop owner, Ved Anand said that in anticipation of the surge in demand, he had stocked up on various items. “We have been experiencing brisk trade for the past few days,” he said.
A Doonite, Rekha Bhatt said that she had already purchased tricolour-themed badges, t-shirts and other items. “We celebrate the day collectively in our locality and so we make it a point to wear things which reflect the spirit of the special day,” she noted.
