18 new dengue cases reported in Doon in 3 days

Following the recent heavy rain spell, the Dehradun district has seen a spike in dengue cases. On Wednesday, six new cases were reported in the district. Earlier this week, seven new cases had been reported on Monday followed by five on Tuesday.
The chief medical officer (CMO), Dehradun, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma informed that among the six cases reported on Wednesday, three have been recorded at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, two at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and one at Graphic Era Hospital. This brings the cumulative total of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 296 with 144 cases originating from Dehradun and 152 cases from other districts and States.
Currently, 23 dengue patients are receiving treatment. Among them, 13 are being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, three at Himalayan Hospital, two at Graphic Era Hospital, one at AIIMS Rishikesh, one at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital while three are convalescing at home. On Wednesday, health officials collected 223 dengue samples, raising the total number of samples tested to 15,541.
Further, on Wednesday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 10719 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 212 homes. To date, the Health department has completed a total of 13, 80279 household surveys with 11,289 yielding positive results.
