UPES hosted the two-day 2nd International Conference on Advanced Materials, Energy & Environmental Sustainability (ICAMEES 2.0) which concluded on Friday. The organisers said that it had brought together leading scientists, academicians, researchers, students and industry professionals from India and abroad to discuss critical advances shaping a sustainable future.
Envisioned as a global platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, ICAMEES 2.0 witnessed participation from over 200 delegates. The director general, National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM), New Delhi, Lok Pratap Singh; Padma Shri S Sivaram, FNA, honorary professor emeritus, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru and Magsaysay Awardee, Rajendra Singh were present at the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, the vice- chancellor, UPES, Ram Sharma said: “The challenges we face today around sustainability, are way too enormous and urgent for any one discipline to solve alone. Research can no longer sit in isolated silos or remain only on paper. It must turn into real solutions that improve people’s lives. With ICAMEES 2.0, we are trying to create exactly that kind of space, where scientists, industry leaders, and research organizations can talk to each other, question each other, and build together.”
The conference aimed to document recent scientific developments, enable knowledge exchange between academia, industry and R&D organisations and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration aligned with national and global sustainability missions, the organisers said.
