The 119th Kisan Mela will be held at the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) from March 13 to 16 next year. This decision was arrived at unanimously in the Kisan Mela advisory committee meeting chaired by the university vice chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan here on Friday.
The theme of this Kisan Mela will be ‘Empowered woman, prosperous farming’ (Sashakt Mahila, Samriddh Kheti). The committee’s member secretary and director of extension education, Jitendra Kwatra conducted the meeting which was attended by all the members of the advisory committee.
Various aspects related to the Kisan Mela were discussed in the meeting. Formation of committees for organisation of various programmes, lectures by scientists during farmers’ meet during the Kisan Mela, farmers’ tours to various research centres, felicitation of progressive farmers and other aspects were discussed during the meeting. The vice chancellor said that progressive farmers should be invited to the event so that other farmers attending the Kisan Mela can benefit from their experience.
