Survey of India not to be shifted from Doon as for now

The Centre has clarified that the Survey of India headquarters will not be shifted from Dehradun as for now in response to the request of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Notably, the CM had written to the Union Minister of Science and Technology in this sensitive matter, articulating the collective anguish of the State’s people over the shift the Centre was supposed to be mulling. It is learnt that the Centre has informed the State government that it had not approved this matter as yet.
In a letter written to CM Dhami, the Union Minister of State for Science and Technology (Independent Charge), Jitendra Singh clarified that no proposal regarding shifting of the headquarters of Survey of India from Dehradun has been approved by the Department of Science and Technology so far.
In his letter, he also appreciated the CM’s letter for its emotional pitch about the historical, scientific and strategic importance of the Survey of India.
