The vice chancellor of Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUV) in Badshahithaul, Tehri Garhwal NK Joshi has been granted an extension of service. This decision was made by governor lieutenant general (Retd) Gurmit Singh based on the recommendation of the State government. Joshi was initially appointed as VC on April 12, 2023. His three-year tenure was scheduled to end on April 11, 2026.

Officials stated that the selection process for a new regular VC is currently in progress and is taking time. In light of this, the governor has ordered an extension of Joshi’s tenure. Based on this, Joshi will continue as VC from April 12, 2026, for an additional six months or until a regular VC is appointed, whichever occurs first.

In response to this decision, Joshi pledged to expedite pending work at the university in accordance with regulations, ensuring that decisions will prioritise the interests of the students. All officers, professors and employees of the university congratulated Joshi for extension.

Students and faculty have also expressed their delight at this decision, stating that under Joshi’s leadership, the university will continue to advance and reach new heights.
