Joshi reviews progress of Sainya Dham construction

Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi reviewed the progress of the last phase of the construction work of the Sainya Dham in a meeting held at his camp office on Monday. The Sainya Dham is being constructed at Guniyal Gaon near Dehradun.

 In the meeting, Joshi directed the officers to ensure that all the construction activities are completed within the time frame. He said that the officers should ensure that the quality of the work is maintained. On a stern note, the minister said that the Sainya Dham is not merely a war memorial but is a symbol of veneration for the martyrs and the glorious tradition of the State and no laxity in its works will be tolerated.

He said that the remaining works should be completed with mutual coordination so that the inauguration programme of the Sainya Dham is organised in a graceful manner. The minister added that the Sainya Dham is dedicated to the valour and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the State and it will serve as a source of inspiration for the coming generations. 

In the meeting the minister directed the officers of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) to take up the task of providing employment opportunities in the foreign countries on priority. He clarified that the 50 per cent of the overseas positions of UPNL will be reserved for ex-servicemen and the rest 50 per cent for the youngsters with non-army background.

The meeting was attended by secretary Deependra Chaudhary, additional secretary Shyam Singh, MD UPNL Brigadier ( retd) JNS Bisht and others.
