The Dehradun district administration has started preparations for the Kanwad Yatra which will begin on July 30. The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan held a high-level meeting with officials from all departments concerned and directed them to complete all arrangements by July 25. He said that there should be no compromise with the faith and safety of Kanwadiyas and warned that strict action will be taken against officials found negligent. According to the administration, the Kanwad Yatra will be held from July 30 to August 11. The peak rush of devotees is expected between July 31 and August 4, while the Dak Kanwad will take place from August 8 to 11. Jalabhishek at Shiva temples will be performed on August 11. To ensure smooth movement and security, the police have divided the Kanwad route into four zones and 13 sectors. Transport officials have been directed to carry out regular vehicle checking, stop overloading and improve road safety.
