Leadership excellence & military preparedness vital for national security, says RSS chief

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said that excellence in leadership and military preparedness is always necessary when it comes to national security. Terming the Agnipath scheme as an experiment, he said that improvements and modifications should be considered in it based on experience. Interacting with ex-servicemen on the second day of his Dehradun visit on Monday, Bhagwat said that Nepal, Bangladesh and Nepal have historically been part of one cultural landscape. Stressing that Kashmir is an integral part of India, he also emphasised on the need for an alert and strong policy to tackle campaigns being run against India.
Addressing the gathering, the RSS chief said that society plays a central role in deciding the fate of the nation, adding that a strong society will ensure strong defence of the nation. Stating that the organised strength of society makes every citizen powerful, he said that it is essential for leaders of society to be disciplined and of strong character. On the issue of youths, migration and regional development, Bhagwat said that there is immense scope in the spheres of education, health and local enterprise. Special and planned efforts are needed to check migration from mountainous regions like Garhwal, he added.
Terming the Uniform Civil Code an important means for national solidarity, he said that this will reduce disputes in society. On the subject of reservation, the RSS chief called for patience and widespread social agreement. He further said that religious conversion, infiltration and birth rate are responsible for demographic changes, adding that a holistic and long-term policy is the need now to address the issue.
Bhagwat exhorted the ex-servicemen stating that along with the soldiers fighting on the soldiers, service and efforts in the society are also equally important. He also appealed to the ex-servicemen to connect with the services rendered to society by the RSS.
