Legal awareness camp:  Students administered de-addiction oath

On the direction of Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital and District Legal Services Authority, Uttarkashi, a legal literacy and awareness camp was organised at Matali on Thursday. On this occasion, the secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Sachin Kumar informed the students and those present about the ill effects of drug abuse. He warned that consumption of drugs and intoxicants adversely impacts both physical and mental health. Besides, it might push a person towards crime, he said, adding that such addiction might lead to death, ruining the family.   The students present in the camp were also administered an oath to stay away from drugs.

Kumar further said: “If a person is in the grip of drug addiction, he can be brought to the District Hospital Uttarkashi where psychiatrists and other specialist doctors are available to help him. Tobacco and cigarette consumers can also get rid of this habit by getting health services from the hospital.”

Detailed information on traffic rules was also given in the camp with stress laid on wearing helmet and using seat belts properly.  

The secretary also gave information on human trafficking in the camp. The role and benefits of the commercial courts functioning in Dehradun and Haldwani were also explained in detail.
