HNB Garhwal University makes entrance test mandatory for all PG, professional courses in 2026-27

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University has issued the notification for the University Entrance Test (UET) 2026–27, making the exam mandatory for admission to all postgraduate, diploma and professional programmes offered across its three campuses and over 50 affiliated colleges. According to university officials, notifications released by registrar, YP Rawani, confirmed that online applications for programmes such as MA, MSc, MCom, MCA, MTech, MPharma, MSW, LLB, LLM, BEd, MEd, BPEd, MPEd, BLib, MLib and PG Diploma courses will be accepted starting April 27, 2026. The last date for submitting the application form along with the prescribed fee is May 20, 2026. The university operates around 14 schools offering a wide range of courses across disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Education, Law and Social Sciences. All admissions to these programmes will be conducted through the UET.
The officials also informed that the entrance examination will consist entirely of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Most programmes will feature 100 questions, while the B.Ed. The programme will contain 200 questions. The exam duration will generally be 2 hours, and 3 hours for the BEd programme.
Further, the entrance examination coordinator Pritam Singh Negi stated that the application process will be entirely online and managed through the Samarth portal. Examination centre will be established in Srinagar (Garhwal), Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun, Rishikesh and Roorkee.
The university administration clarified that simply qualifying for the entrance test does not guarantee admission to any programme. Final selections will depend on merit, seat availability and fulfilment of other eligibility criteria, he added.
