MCD to operate 24×7 flood control room

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has ordered the establishment of a 24×7 flood and disaster control room ahead of the monsoon season to ensure quick response to waterlogging and other emergencies within city limits.

According to an order issued on Wednesday, deputy municipal commissioner Tanveer Singh Marwah has been appointed as the officer in charge of flood and disaster management works. Locals can register complaints through the toll-free number 18001804571 and WhatsApp numbers 9286459167 and 9286977117.

The flood and disaster control room has been set up within the MCD premises. The control room will operate round the clock with staff deployed in three shifts. Complaints received will be recorded and forwarded to the officials concerned for immediate action, while records of complaint disposal will also be maintained. The corporation has appointed nodal and zonal officers for different areas to monitor and resolve complaints. The officials have been directed to review complaints daily and submit reports to the district magistrate Ashish Chauhan and municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey.Supervisors and sanitation inspectors have also been assigned duties in the control room to ensure coordination during emergencies and address waterlogging issues during the monsoon season. Pandey stated that the control room will remain operational 24 hours a day throughout the monsoon period to ensure a swift response to complaints related to waterlogging, flooding and other emergencies. He said that arrangements have been made to strengthen preparedness and ensure that civic teams can reach affected areas quickly whenever required.
