MDDA’s mobile teams to crackdown on illegal constructions in Dehradun

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) will form mobile teams to curb illegal constructions. These teams will conduct intensive inspections across sectors and monitor encroachments on government land. The decision follows chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s instructions to take strict action against illegal construction, encroachment and plotting on government land.

This was stated by the MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari during a review meeting with officials and staff on Tuesday. He directed field officers to identify illegal constructions through sector-wise inspections and take immediate action. He warned that any official found negligent will be held personally accountable. He informed that the authority will deploy mobile squads to regularly patrol different areas and respond immediately to any unauthorised activities. Wherever illegal occupation or construction is detected on government land, sealing or demolition will be carried out without delay.

Tiwari further informed that special monitoring will be done in sensitive and restricted zones, including areas near the Ganga river, Indian Military Academy (IMA), DRDO and under high-tension power lines. The officials concerned will also check for water conservation systems in newly built and existing commercial buildings. Necessary action will follow if such systems are missing, he said.

The VC stated that MDDA will carry out public awareness campaigns to prevent illegal plotting and transactions on government land. Legal action will be taken against offenders where required. Tiwari instructed officials to maintain strict monitoring and reporting at the field level. He stated that no negligence will be tolerated during the campaign, which aligns with the CM’s commitment to a transparent and corruption-free governance system.
