Minerva Academy FC selects dozen youngsters for final trials

About a dozen youngsters were selected by Minerva Academy Football Club in its final round of trials for Uttarakhand held at the Pavilion Ground Dehradun. The academy conducted trials in four locations-Champawat, Pithoragarh, Haldwani and Dehradun. The dozen selected youngsters will be called to the academy for the final round of selection.

The trials took place in under-10, under 12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 age groups. Four head coaches along with three support staff were present during the trials in Dehradun. One of the head coaches, Akshay Sawant said that he himself and the whole club was overwhelmed by the passion shown by Uttarakhand’s youngsters to play at a higher level.

He said that the club aims at polishing these young players and making them competent to represent India in the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. Uttarakhand has given some good footballers to Indian football. The academy aims to identify the talent and give them a platform to prove themselves, he added.
