PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the School Education department to cancel all the attachments before June 30.

Following the order, all the teachers attached in different schools, offices of the department and other departments will have to return to their original school. The minister gave the order while chairing a meeting of the officers of the department on Friday.

Rawat said that the State government will not hesitate to take strict measures to ensure effective use of human resources in government schools. He stated that teachers who have been attached or deputed to various schools, departmental offices and other departments for long periods of time will have to return to their original schools to teach students. He stated that strict action will be taken against teachers who fail to return to their original place of posting within the stipulated time frame. The minister clarified that most attachments were made for only one academic session, but many teachers and staff have been working away from their original schools for years. This has adversely affected the academic activities of schools, and the shortage of teachers is disrupting student learning, he added.

In the meeting the minister also directed officers to cancel all attachment orders of the non-teaching personnel with immediate effect. He stated that if attachment is necessary in the future due to any specific administrative or educational need, it will be done afresh for a fixed period. The minister also took note of complaints of irregularities in the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme and ordered an investigation.  He said that the investigation of MDM will be done in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts and schools in Ramnagar, Haldwani, Kotdwar, Doiwala, Raipur, Vikasnagar and Sahaspur blocks. Rawat stated that he had been receiving complaints of irregularities in the MDM for some time through various sources, public representatives, and local citizens.
