With the Congress planning a major protest march on various issues in Dehradun on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party has accused it of continuing to indulge in appeasement politics. The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that the decisive action taken by the State government against land Jihad is appreciable, terming it an effective initiative against the intention to change the State’s demographics. The manner in which the Congress is opposing such decisions is unfortunate and disappointing, he said.
Responding to leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya’s statement on the proposed education city in Dakpatthar area of Dehradun district, Bhatt alleged that the Congress is opposing this proposal in order to support land Jihadis. “This clearly shows that those in favour of a Muslim university do not support modern education. They are more concerned about land Jihadis than about development in the State. The land in Dakpatthar on which the Uttarakhand Infrastructure Development Board is going to develop the education city has the Congress concerned. There is enough land available for works related to hydro power projects in the future despite this project. The State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami undertook a campaign to get this land vacated by land Jihadis. The Congress is not concerned about hydro power projects or the future of the State’s youngsters as its main concerns are to protect the interests of the Muslim university and land Jihadis,” Bhatt claimed.
The BJP State president further said that development of the education city will take the State forward in the sphere of education at the national level. This will not only result in development of the Dakpatthar area but also achieve recognition for the entire State as an education hub. The BJP government is preparing educated youths to take the nation forward while the Congress continues to indulge in its politics of appeasement. This is the reason why provides a shield whenever the Dhami government acts against land Jihadis, he said. “The Congress doesn’t want the minority communities to become educated as it has always tried to keep this section uneducated. This is the reason why the Congress protests in some form or the other whenever there is talk of higher education and technical education,” Bhatt added.
