Nainital observes Earth Day in zoo and schools

 Several programmes were organised in Nainital to mark the Earth Day.
Among them were the awareness programmes held in Nainital Zoological Park under the direction of DFO Akash Gangwar with the aim of promoting environmental protection. A large number of school students participated in activities themed on “Our Plant Our Planet.” A creative painting competition was organised for students of classes 1 to V in which the children presented their imaginations on topics related to environmental protection through paintings while a seed ball making activity was conducted for students of classes VI to VII. During this, students were taught the process of making seed balls and were encouraged to plant them in their schools and surrounding areas.

Apart from this, a stone painting competition was organised for the students in which they painted pictures on stones.

The forest range officer Anand Lal Tamta said that about 300 students had participated in the commemorative programme besides the zoo staff.

St John’s School also organised special programmes to spread awareness about environmental protection.  Among those present was the school’s principal, Vinita Rawat and the vice -principal, Poonam Bisht.
