The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya has directed the department to release funds under the self-employment scheme to 211 selected single women. She gave the order in the meeting of the department on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the WECD minister directed officials to issue a notification by August inviting applications for the Single Women Self-Employment Scheme (Ekal Mahila Swarojgar Yojana) for the current financial year. Preparations are in progress to extend benefits under this scheme to 2,000 women this year, she added.
After the meeting the minister stated that the first instalment of funds under this scheme had already been released to 484 women, most of whom have already begun their self-employment initiatives. A programme will be organised soon to release funds to the 211 additional women and the chief minister has been requested to provide a time for this, she informed.
Meanwhile, Arya also informed that under the Nanda Gaura Yojana, over 4,000 girls from Haridwar and Uttarkashi districts were unable to receive their funds due to incomplete formalities. A total of Rs 19,22,78,000 will be transferred to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on Thursday, she added. Additionally, Arya further said that the Tilu Rauteli Award and the Anganwadi Samman Award will be presented at the Women’s Day event on August 8. Notifications for both awards have already been issued. She instructed officials to prioritise the completion of this process.
Secretary Chandresh Kumar, director Bansilal Rana and Mohit Chaudhary were among those present at the meeting.
