NH gets blocked repeatedly: Badrinath pilgrims suffer

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Jyotirmath

Due to the continuous rains, the Badrinath National Highway is getting closed at many places at regular intervals, resulting in   pilgrims’ hardships.  On Wednesday, pilgrims were again troubled due to the closure of the NH near Pipalkoti, Bhanerpani, Pagalnala, Gulabkoti and Langsi in Chamoli district. Later, it was reopened and the vehicle movement resumed.

The locals and the pilgrims are most concerned about the stretch near Pipalkoti. Due to the formation of landslide zones here, the highway is getting closed even after drizzling.

On Wednesday, the highway near Gulabkoti became operational only around afternoon. Prior to this, all the vehicles returning from Badrinath Dham were being stopped at Helang, making people spend hours stranded in their vehicles.
