Two dead & two injured in separate road accidents in Tehri & U’kashi

Two persons died and two were injured in two separate accidents in Tehri and Uttarkashi districts on Sunday evening. In Tehri district, a heavy stone fell from the mountain on a couple riding on a two-wheeler near Bemunda on the Chamba-Rishikesh national highway. The rider died on the spot while the woman riding pillion sustained serious injury.

The police reached the site on being informed about the accident by locals. The rider was identified as Ankit Jain who hailed from Uttar Pradesh. The injured woman was identified as Kotdwar native Rajni Rawat. She was taken to the nearest hospital from where the doctors referred her to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh.

In the second accident, a car went out of control and fell about 25 metres down the mountainside towards the Bhagirathi river at Dabrani on the Gangotri national highway in Uttarkashi district on Sunday evening. Of the two persons including the driver in the car, Yashpal (35) from Tyuni in Chakrata area of Dehradun district died on the spot while Jaipal Singh (45) also from Tyuni sustained serious injuries.

The locals, police and SDRF personnel carried out the rescue after which the injured man was sent to the hospital in Gangnani by ambulance.
