Preparation for Census 2027 gathers pace, MCD holds training

Preparations for Census 2027 have gained momentum with the District Census Office organising a one-day training programme at the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to ensure smooth implementation of the nationwide exercise.
The census staff was trained during the programme on how to use the Census Handbook, follow rules and start the upcoming action plan. The district census office trainers, Pradeep Yadav and Shakuldeep Chauhan explained technical and management tasks, including keeping records, managing data and preparing for the next steps. A total of 42 participants attended the programme.
The charge officer and town officer Dr Varun Aggrawal, who is also serving as senior municipal veterinary officer at the MCD, participated in the training and shared suggestions for the effective implementation of the census-related work.
Speaking of the training, the Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey said that the census is a vital nation-building exercise and urged all officials and employees to perform their duties with seriousness, transparency and accountability. “Accurate census data is essential for planning development projects, better resource management and framing public welfare policies,” he added.
The officials said that as per the directions of the Census Directorate, the preliminary house enumeration has been completed and the data has been uploaded to the designated portal, laying the foundation for the next stages of the Census 2027 exercise. Under the Municipal Commissioner’s guidance, preparations are progressing in a planned manner, they added.
