President Murmu arrives in Dehradun for two day visit

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Dehradun on Friday for a two-day official visit. She was welcomed at Dehradun Airport, Jolly Grant by the State governor lieutenant general (Retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, chief secretary Anand Bardhan, director general of police Deepam Seth and other senior officials were also present at the airport to welcome the President.

Murmu will be the chief guest at the Passing out Parade (POP) at the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday. In the majestic parade, the gentlemen cadets of 158 Regular and 141 Technical Graduate Course will be commissioned into the Indian Army as officers. 

Upon arrival, the president departed for Rashtrapati Niketan in the city under tight security. Police and security forces were deployed along both sides of the route as the President’s convoy passed through Dehradun. The convoy reached Rashtrapati Niketan on Rajpur Road in the afternoon.

In view of the visit, the district administration and police have strengthened security and traffic arrangements across the city. Police, intelligence agencies and security forces have been placed on high alert. Additional personnel have been deployed at key thoroughfares, intersections and sensitive locations. Special surveillance is being maintained along the president’s proposed route, with security agencies conducting continuous inspections.

The district magistrate of Dehradun Ashish Chauhan inspected Rashtrapati Niketan on Thursday, a day before the president’s arrival, to review preparations. He directed all departments to ensure no lapse in security or public facilities during the president’s stay. Officials have been asked to submit fitness and clearance certificates for electricity, drinking water, fire safety, and other essential services before the president’s arrival.
