The Rajya Andolankari Sanyukt Manch (RSAM) questioned the implementation of the 10 per cent horizontal reservation for Uttarakhand statehood activists and their dependents saying that several selected candidates are still waiting for appointment, recommendations and official recognition.
Addressing the media on Friday, RASAM office bearer Ambuj Sharma said that many activists and their dependents are yet to receive the benefits promised to them despite various government orders issued over the years.
He referred to government documents issued in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and questioned why appointment and recommendation cases of selected agitators remained pending despite the government’s stated position on the issue.
Sharma demanded an independent examination of original files, note sheets, selection records and other documents to determine how many selected agitators were appointed, whose recommendations were issued and which cases remain pending.
He also raised concerns over cases related to the Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education. He said that recommendations of some selected agitators were withheld or delayed and demanded that the government provide details if any court order was cited as the reason for such action.
Sharma also highlighted recognition cases pending since 2021, saying that official recognition is necessary for eligible agitators to claim reservation benefits. He demanded that the government disclose the number of pending cases and set a deadline for their disposal. He said that the party has given the government seven days to take written and time-bound action on pending appointment, recommendation and recognition cases.
