Dehradun District magistrate Savin Bansal urged citizens to submit written complaints about any land mafia activities directly to the Vigilance Establishment. He said this at the ‘Press se Miliye’ programme in the Uttaranchal Press Club on Saturday.
He reiterated the importance of the public submitting direct complaints about land mafia activities. He said that while it’s not necessary for individuals to approach him personally regarding land mafia issues, they can directly contact the Vigilance officials. Bansal said that in some cases, he himself had spoken to the Vigilance SP to ensure that complaints are registered and handled according to established protocols.
Bansal explained that according to government mandates, officials are placed in designated posts primarily to strengthen public trust in governance. Regarding the restoration of the drainage system in Dehradun, the DM said that one major choking point attributed to waterlogging identified was the ISBT. He said that in past years, the chief minister had visited this location during the monsoon season to talk to residents and inspect the situation, but due to unavoidable reasons no solution came up.
Following the chief minister’s directions, the district administration decided to address the ISBT choking point this monsoon season and as a result of teamwork, they successfully managed the issue. Bansal also identified a second major choking point in the Prince Chowk area, stating that work is in progress to resolve it. He expressed his belief that by the next monsoon season, the choking point problem at Prince Chowk would also be resolved.
Commenting on the shuttle service in Mussoorie, the DM said that during winter, especially when the winter carnival is held, the administration ensures effective operation of shuttle services, parking and other facilities. He informed that even in the summer tourist season, they had enhanced these arrangements.
