Rudrapur housing project for EWS families nearing completion

The ambitious Baghwala Housing project for the economically weaker sections of the society in Rudrapur ( Udham Singh Nagar) is nearing completion. Under the project 1,872 houses are being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
The Housing and Urban Development department is planning to soon inaugurate the project and hand over the keys to their new homes to the beneficiaries.
The secretary, Housing and Housing commissioner, R Rajesh Kumar said that this project will bring positive change to the lives of economically disadvantaged families. He added that under the guidance of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State government is committed to providing dignified housing to every eligible family. “The project has focused on quality, safety and modern amenities. All work has been completed in accordance with established standards. Soon, eligible beneficiaries will be allotted the houses and the keys will be handed over, fulfilling the dream of owning a home for thousands of families,’’ he said.
The officials informed that developed with the spirit of “Our Home, Our Self-Respect,” a total of 1,872 houses are being constructed under the project. They informed that construction of 832 flats is complete while finishing touches are being given in 512 flats.
As per the provisions of the project, the beneficiaries will only have to pay an amount of Rs three lakh rupees for these modern flats. The total cost these flats is Rs six lakh and a subsidy of Rs three lakh on every flat will be equally borne by the government of India and the government of Uttarakhand.
The project is being developed on approximately 6.0281 hectares of land and has a built-up area of 39,220 square metres. The project comprises 23 multi-story residential blocks, each with a focus on modern urban amenities. Each flat includes a bedroom, drawing room, kitchen, toilet, bathroom and a veranda. These houses, measuring approximately 28 square metres each, have been designed to provide adequate amenities and a better quality of life for small families. A key feature of the project is that all buildings have been constructed using earthquake-resistant technology. Wide roads, adequate parking, drinking water, electricity and a clean environment have also been ensured.
The residential complex features rainwater harvesting, a sewage system and a modern Sewage Treatment Plant. The project also includes lush green parks, safe play areas for children and extensive beautification work. The completion of horticulture has made the complex’s environment attractive and environmentally friendly.
