While inaugurating the Uttarakhand State Inter-University Sports Meet 2025-26 at Stevenson Stadium of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology here on Monday, the Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh said that the youth, based on the strength of character, would play a pivotal role in materialising Developed India by 2047 vision, stressing on sports as a great tool for character building. A total of 722 athletes from 10 universities across the State are participating in the festival.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the vice-chancellor, Prof Manmohan Singh Chauhan spoke about the university’s commitment to giving equal importance to sports alongside academic excellence while the registrar Deepa Vinay presented the event’s outline.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the vice- chancellor of Kumaun University, D S Rawat; vice- chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, Arun Kumar Tripathi; vice- chancellor of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Ramakant Pandey; vice- chancellor of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Medical Education University, Bhanu Duggal and vice- chancellor of Soban Singh Jeena University, Satpal Singh.
