The Speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan announced on Tuesday that Shri Guru Ram Rai University’s off-campus is going to start soon in Kotdwar. Earlier, she met the president of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Mahant Devendra Das. He mentioned the fact that the university had already established a Paramedical and Nursing College in Kotdwar, providing opportunities for higher studies to students from Kotdwar and nearby areas at her initiative.
She in her address expressed gratitude to Mahant Das for opening these institutions in Kotdwar dedicated to higher studies in nursing and paramedical sciences.
During the meeting, both discussed various contemporary issues related to Uttarakhand in detail. It was also shared that considering the number of mentally challenged children in and around Kotdwar, a special medical campaign would be launched by the joint team of the Psychiatry and Community Medicine Departments of Shri Guru Ram Rai University. In the first phase, data collection, analysis of causes and diagnosis of mental disorders will be carried out while in the second phase, specialist psychiatrists will provide treatment to these children.
Besides, in the near future, with the support of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital will organise a cancer awareness and free health screening camp in Kotdwar region.
Das apprised the Speaker of the public welfare activities being carried out by SGRR University, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission.
