Concerned over the recent suicide of three minor sisters in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the Dehradun district administration has issued a special advisory for schools, emphasising balanced digital use by students. The DM Savin BansaL instructed the school administrations to regularly monitor children’s digital behaviour and educate parents on the growing online gaming addiction among children. Noting that online gaming is having a serious impact on the mental health of children, he said he was expecting schools to sensitise students and parents about digital discipline through counseling sessions.
Mental health experts also opine that uncontrolled digital gaming must be controlled somehow in the interests of the students.
