GBPUAT to hold farmers’ conference to mark Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee

To mark the silver jubilee year of Uttarakhand as a State to be celebrated from November 1 to 9, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) is slated to hold a farmers’ conference on November 7. The Union Agriculture Minister and the chief minister of Uttarakhand will participate in it. The outlines of the commemorative programme were discussed and drawn up at a meeting held in the university auditorium presided over by the State minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ganesh Joshi
here on Wednesday.
The minister, in his address, said that the farmers’ conference would be organised in coordination with a slew of departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, Fisheries, Dairy, Cooperative and Animal Husbandry. “The Union Minister of Agriculture and the chief minister of Uttarakhand will take part in the conference. The progressive farmers and beneficiaries of several government’s farmer welfare schemes will also be there,” he added.
He conducted a site inspection of the event’s venue- Pantnagar University’s stadium- along with some officials. He directed the officials to ensure participation of 30,000 or more people. Besides, a large departmental exhibition will also be organised at the farmers’ conference.
He instructed all departmental officials to coordinate with one another and complete all preparations on time. He also stressed on
presentation of the State’s achievements during the last 25 years and the developmental road map for the next 25 years at the conference.
Vice chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan and others were present on the occasion.
